It’s been 63 years since the days when Hien Luong Bridge had to buckle up against the rain of bombs and bullets, and firecrackers covered the sky to have a peaceful and relaxed Hien Luong Bridge like today.<\/font><\/font><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The original name of the bridge in this Quang Tri region was Minh Luong. <\/font>The name was given from the reign of King Minh Mang, due to fear of offending, the residents here changed it to Hien Luong. <\/font><\/font>At first, Ben Hai river<\/font><\/font><\/strong>  was also called Ben Hoi river because the word “bald” in the local language reads the same as the word “hai”.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

The banks of  <\/font><\/font>Hien Luong – Ben Hai<\/font><\/font><\/strong>  is the name associated with the cluster of historical relics surrounding the banks of the Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge – a historical witness to the scene of “the country divided in two”, before the enduring and tragic resistance war. strength of the entire Vietnamese nation during the war against the US in 1954.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

This is the reason why this place was chosen by the US as a place to divide our country to cause internal contradictions for convenient governance (Like the scene of the division of South Korea and North Korea, which up to now has not been able to “return to the same house”. ) is due to the special position of the two banks here on the strip of Vietnam. <\/font>This cluster of historical monuments is located on  <\/font><\/font>the 17th parallel<\/font><\/font><\/strong>  from West to East on the map of Vietnam and is also located at the intersection between National Highway 1A and  <\/font><\/font>Ben Hai River<\/font><\/font><\/strong> , on the south bank of Xuan Hoa village, Trung Hai commune. , Do Linh district, the North bank belongs to Hien Luong village, Vinh Thanh commune, Vinh Linh district invisibly “divided” the country.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

In July 1954 (one of the most memorable historical events during the long and arduous journey of our nation’s resistance war for national salvation), after the resistance war against the French came to victory, the French and Vietnamese Nam signed the Geneva Agreement, restoring peace in Vietnam on the basis of respecting the sovereignty of all three countries. <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

Hien Luong Bridge<\/font><\/font><\/strong> ,  <\/font><\/font>Ben Hai River<\/font><\/font><\/strong>  has bent to bear so much pain and loss during the 20 years of the resistance war against the US, patiently waiting for the day of independence and great victory in the spring of 1975. Our country officially reconnects the banks of Hien Luong – Ben Hai.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n
