Sin Sui Ho village (Sin Sui Ho commune, Phong Tho, Lai Chau) is located on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, at an altitude equivalent to Sa Pa town (Lao Cai). The average temperature here is about 22 degrees Celsius.
Along the roads to the village, the Mong people grow a lot of orchids. At the end of the year, the orchid blooms with bright yellow flowers, mixed with peach and plum colors, making Sin Sui Ho village like a paradise in the middle of the jungle.
This season, the golden terraced fields, eye-catching, surround the village, making visitors feel like they are lost in a fairyland.
The highlight of this beautiful Hmong village is a heart-shaped waterfall located deep in the forest. The waterfall is also a symbol of the villagers, so everything in the village is inspired by the heart, including the tea table, resting in the middle of the forest.
From the center of Sin Sui Ho village to the Tim waterfall is about 2km long. People have made a trail, lining up stone steps through the forest very well to raise visitors’ steps.
Heart Waterfall is a heart-shaped rock that splits the water stream into a heart shape, creating a unique scene that attracts visitors.
The Mong people say that in the past, in the village, there was a talented boy who loved a beautiful girl. But, the young man had to go to war. The news of his death flew back, causing her grief, going to places or dating, crying all her tears, and then turning into a stream.
But then, one day the boy returned. The news that he died in battle was just a rumor. He was sad, so he also went there crying and screaming. He died, turned into a heart-shaped rock. The waterfall and the rock are intertwined, proving faithful love.
There is another version of this beautiful waterfall. It is said that the fairy went down to the stream to bathe, met the Mong boy and they fell in love, unable to leave.
But then, she had to go to heaven to ask permission of the Jade Emperor. They made an appointment to meet at this place. The Jade Emperor did not agree and sent her to prison.
On the day of the appointment, not seeing her, the Mong man suffered. He tore his chest, threw his heart on the cliff. The heart suddenly turned to stone.
The fairy did not eat, did not sleep, and was exhausted, so the Jade Emperor mercifully released her to the lower world. Knowing that her lover was dead, she sat on a heart-shaped rock crying, then turned into a waterfall.
