Visiting the ancient rock beach of Nam Dan
According to BestPrice’s research, the ancient rock site of Nam Dan consists of many large rocks located along the Nam Khoong stream. These rocks have strange but extremely unique shapes. Some of the rocks are shaped like a chessboard, others have the shape of a plate or look like a chair.
About 700m from Nam Khoong stream to the east are two very large rocks (giant stones), with no definite shape. The two megaliths have flat surfaces with edges that still retain the natural features of the weathering state, without human intervention.
The megalith has an uneven surface, the shape is almost like a tortoise shell. On the surface there are about 84 engravings and 80 holes punched. These engravings and perforations date back more than 2000 years.
Ancient rock carvings
According to research scientists, the two megalithic monuments are likely to be the tomb of the leader in the region or the place of worship of the gods of the ancient people. In addition, there is another possibility that the place is related to the stone god worship of the prehistoric people.
From the megalithic relic, going along the mountainside about 500m to the H’mong village in Nam Dan village, visitors will see another stone beach with ancient carvings. These drawings are engraved in metal, dating back more than 1000 years. Includes cubes such as round, square, rectangle and ladder, real female vitality figure, life-sized human foot shape.
To this day, the rock carvings at the ancient rock site of Nam Dan have not been specifically deciphered by scientists. It is suggested that these drawings are graphic maps similar to the current maps to document problems in the area. There are other opinions that these are drawings related to the belief of the people in the area to worship the sun god.
