Located 20km from Lai Chau city, on the tourist route “Northwest arc , convenient roads plus unique humanistic tourism resources, Ban Hon is gradually becoming a favorite destination of thousands of visitors. This is the residence of over 150 households, with more than 100 traditional stilt houses of the Lu still preserved.

 

 

Ban Hon community cultural tourist site is located on Ban Hon commune, including Ban Hon 1 with nearly 90 households and Ban Hon 2 with nearly 70 households. This is the residence of the Lu and Mong ethnic communities, of which the Lu ethnic group accounts for 90%. A unique feature in Ban Hon is that it still retains its rich and unique cultural identity, typically housing architecture, cuisine, costumes and traditional crafts of the Lu ethnic group.

The Lu ethnic group, also known as the Lu, Nhuon and Duon ethnic groups, live in lowland areas near rivers and streams in Tam Duong, Tan Uyen and Than Uyen districts of Lai Chau province. The Lu ethnic group is one of the few ethnic groups whose cultural identity, lifestyle, activities and customs are still intact. The Lu people’s life is very rich, they know how to work in wet fields for a long time and also work in the fields to grow corn, potatoes, cassava and cotton. They also know how to hunt fish, know how to knit, know how to weave brocade, know how to grow mulberries to raise silkworms.   

 

Visiting the village, visitors will hear the ladies and gentlemen singing soothing Lu folk songs, dance performances by the boys and girls in the performance with musical instruments such as drums, gongs, etc. Mother flute, baby flute or enjoy delicious dishes prepared by local people… Visitors have the opportunity to buy handmade brocade items such as bags, towels, hats, shirts, skirts…
