2. History of Tao Dan Park District 1
Originally, Tao Dan Park used to belong to the grounds of the French Governor General’s Palace. In 1869, when Miss Clavell Street was built, the park was separated from the Palace and called Jardin de la Ville (also known as Ong Thuong Garden or Bo-Ro Garden).
Many years later, in the park’s grounds, the city built many more works such as: Hieu Nhac Association (1896), Tam Diem Association (1897), sports club (1902), Vien Education Nhi (1926),… After the French withdrew, the park was renamed Tao Dan.
After 1975, Tao Dan garden built an additional play area for children and was renamed “Tao Dan Cultural Park”. Tao Dan is famous for having many green trees, this place often exhibits exhibitions on holidays and Tet.
