More than 10 km from the center of Ha Giang town to the northeast, Tung Ba cave is located in Hong Tien village (Tung Ba commune, Vi Xuyen district). The cave appears across the mountainside, about 10 meters from the valley surface, like a dragon’s mouth, creating a unique beauty of nature and wearing the mysterious color of the mountain waiting to be awakened.

Tung Ba Cave has a width of up to 25m with a length of about 890m. The cave has two floors and has underground water flowing out at the foot of the mountain in front of the cave entrance. Around the cave is a complex of limestone mountains surrounding a wide and rich valley. Along the valley there are many ravines with many other small caves and all face the valley.

Tung Ba cave consists of a large and small interconnected system, the main corridor has exits and skylights. The system of stalactites and stalagmites is very diverse and colorful. In the cave, there are many large and beautiful stalactite columns connecting the bottom to the top of the cave. Sometimes there are wells with cool and quiet water.

In Tung Ba cave

The outstanding feature of Tung Ba cave is the imprints of the geological environment stretching throughout the process of forming the cave, which are still clearly imprinted on each shape of the longitudinal and transverse sections of the cave. The arch is typical for a water-filled underground stream flowing in a rock cave that is less prone to cracking.

The A-shaped arch suddenly reminds the ceiling of the cave soar. Many traces of underground currents are so strong that on the roofs, walls and bottoms, there are still deep and deep currents of fast and swirling water. The phenomenon of “terraces” left on the cave floor has lowered to a reduced flow rate but varies with the seasons.

Another rare feature is that in addition to stalactites and stalactites, there are symbiotic products that cling to the walls, ceiling and bottom of the cave, each piece of cobblestone, sandstone, and each piece of material. skillfully moves from the outside in, along with the high iron oxide content that glows a charming bright red.
