Ngu Chi Son mountain is 2858 m high, considered the first heroic mountain of the Northwest, located in Ta Giang Phinh commune, Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province.
From a distance, the 5 mountains are close together like five fingers spreading straight up to the sky, looking majestic, majestic and mysterious.
According to Mr. Manh Chien, administrator of the Forum of Mountaineering Enthusiasm , the beautiful rocky mountains, steep cliffs and rich vegetation have brought the majestic and majestic beauty to Ngu Chi Son, making Ngu Chi Son beautiful. It is known as the first heroic mountain in the Northwest.
We took a sleeper bus late in the evening from Hanoi and reached Sa Pa at 5am. From Sapa, we rented a 16-seat car to the gathering point in Suoi Thau 2 village, located 25 km from Sa Pa, to meet the local guides and porters.
Departing from the foot of the mountain at 10 am, after two hours of continuous climbing through the barren hills and open forest, the group of 6 people with experienced climbing legs stopped for lunch in the old forest at an altitude of 2400. m.
At this altitude the climate and vegetation change. It was colder and wetter, and it was foggy and cloudy all the way.
After an hour of lunch break to recharge, we continued on the road. From here, we began to enter the large wooded forest and had to overcome continuous steep slopes. After two hours of climbing, we reached the shack at 15 o’clock.
According to Mr. Cu A Cho, a guide of the Mong ethnic group, our group climbed evenly and strongly, 2-3 hours faster than other groups.
The shack that can accommodate about 20-25 people was built by Mr. Cu A Cho and some friends at an altitude of 2600m 2 years ago. Before that, visitors had to set up tents to sleep. There is no spring around the area where the shack is located, so water for domestic use is taken by the porters and picked up from the creek halfway down the mountain range.
After arriving at the shack, half of the members of the group stayed to rest to keep their strength up to see the sunrise the next morning, the other half decided to go to the top to watch the sunset.
After about an hour of continuous climbing through an almost steep slope and a windy ravine, our group reached the top of Ngu Chi Son, the 15th highest mountain in Vietnam but ranked first in terms of climbing difficulty. .
The highest of the five peaks of Ngu Chi Son was just opened by locals at the end of 2017 by installing a number of wooden and rope stairs to help visitors get here safely. The stainless steel tip on the top was also plugged in at the end of 2018.
The floating sea of clouds welcomed us at the top of Ngu Chi Son. Before that, although we had conquered many of the highest mountains in the Northwest, we had never seen such a beautiful sea of clouds, so we were very excited.
There are no tall trees on the top of Ngu Chi Son, so you can see far away. From here, you can clearly see Fansipan, Nhiu Co San, Bach Moc and Lao Than peaks. The scene at the top is very beautiful, like being lost in a fairyland, difficult to describe in words or in pictures.
We wanted to stay as long as possible to admire the beautiful scenery and enjoy every moment there. However, afraid of the dark and cold weather (the temperature is only about 5 degrees Celsius at this time), we left the top at 16:30. On the way down to the shack, we watched the sea of clouds and the sunset slowly fading in the distance. We returned to the shack at 17:30.
After dinner, we quickly took a rest to keep our strength for the next day to climb to the top to watch the sunrise and down the mountain.
The next morning we woke up at 4:30 and started from the shack to the top at 5:00. It was dark, we had to use flashlights to climb. Reaching the top at 6am, we were able to watch the sunrise appear. It’s very windy and cold at the top, only about 3-5 degrees. There had been frost at the top the night before.
We stayed at the top for more than an hour looking at the scenery, taking pictures and then returning to the shack to have breakfast, get our things, and go down to the foot of the mountain. Going from the shack to the foot of the mountain takes less than 3 hours, 2 hours less than going up.
Arriving at the foot of the mountain at 11:30, we boarded a car waiting to go back to Sa Pa and from there took a sleeper car to Hanoi, ending the journey of climbing Ngu Chi Son 2 days 1 night with many impressions. never forget.
