Visit Ban Gioc Waterfall - Cao Bang

Ban Gioc Waterfall  is located in Dam Thuy, Cao Bang, Northeast Vietnam, about 335km from Hanoi, about 7 hours by car. If you are not familiar with the road, do not want to rent a car yourself, you can take the  tour of Ban Gioc Cao Bang Waterfall . If you want to experience it yourself, you can go in the direction of National Highway 1A -> Bac Giang Lang Son Expressway -> Follow Highway 4A to Dong Khe town -> Continue DT208 to Highway 3 in Hoa Thuan town – > Turn right onto Highway 3 -> continue for another 21.3km and then turn right to go DT206 to Dam Thuy -> Ban Gioc Waterfall.

Ban Gioc Waterfall  is one of the famous waterfalls not only in our country but also known by international friends. Located in the top 4 largest transnational waterfalls worldwide, this place is increasingly attracting a lot  of Cao Bang tourists  to admire.

Ban Gioc Waterfall Cao Bang

The waterfall is located between the Vietnam – China border, so it has 2 names. If viewed from the foot of the waterfall, there are 2 parts of the waterfall on the left (called the secondary waterfall) and the part on the right (called the main waterfall). The secondary waterfall and half of the main waterfall on the left hand side belong to Vietnam’s sovereignty. The right half of the main waterfall belongs to China.

• Vietnam calls the secondary waterfall High waterfall, the main waterfall Low waterfall, but combining the two parts of the waterfall together, this place is called Ban Gioc waterfall.
• The Chinese side is divided into 2 separate waterfalls. The main waterfall is Duc Thien waterfall and the secondary waterfall is Ban Uoc waterfall.

One of the things that make up the beauty of Ban Gioc waterfall is that in the main waterfall, the waterfall does not flow straight from the top down, but there are uneven and divided layers like stairs, causing the water of the Quai Son River to flow through here. split into many strips, forming a white patch between the land and sky of Cao Bang, alternating between green colors.

When is the best season to go to Ban Gioc waterfall?

Also because it is located at the top of the country, with windy terrain, the climate at Ban Gioc waterfall in Cao Bang is divided into two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. From June to September every year,  Ban Gioc waterfall  welcomes showers, making the water flow even more massively and violently, pouring down white foam. Many people think that this is the most ideal time to see the beauty and feel the majestic power of nature. However, for  Ban Gioc waterfall tourists who are  not excited about the rains, from about September onwards is the time when Ban Gioc waterfall enters autumn and is the driest. The sky is clear and the climate is very cool at this time. The most special thing is that you can still admire the Quay Son river at that time with a turquoise color – a masterpiece from the hands of mother nature.

The dry season of Ban Gioc waterfall in Cao Bang begins in October and lasts until May next year. The scene of Ban Gioc, which was once peaceful, is still peaceful and quiet. The natural picture filled with cool green colors has now been mixed with the golden color of ripe rice, creating a scene that cannot be more romantic. In the dry season, the water flow is not as fast and strong as around June, instead it is a quieter, more peaceful look. In the distance, the rice fields are ripe, leaning with each cool breeze. All have contributed to creating a colorful, lively but also extremely peaceful picture of nature here. This is also the reason that every weekend, Cao Bang welcomes guests on  the Ban Gioc Waterfall tour from Hanoi  to rest and “relieve stress” after a tiring working week.
