The reason for the name Ham Rong is because viewed from above, Ham Rong mountain bends into 9 sections. At the end, it bulges like a dragon with its mouth wide open to suck water from the Ma River.
Opposite Ham Rong Mountain, on the other side of the Ma River is Chau Phong Mountain, also known as Ngoc Mountain. From a distance, Chau Phong looks like a dragon playing with pearls. Two mountains – two sacred dragons have made this land legendary, majestic but no less poetic.
Ham Rong Mountain in Thanh Hoa is located in the Ham Rong relic complex including: Ham Rong Bridge, Ham Rong Mountain and Ham Rong Truc Lam Zen Monastery. Surrounding the mountain are rich valleys. According to National Highway 1A, from Thanh Hoa city, if you want to go to Ham Rong mountain, you just need to turn left onto Cao Xuyen bridge. After that, continue to go about 3km and then turn right into Nghia Son territory for about 1km. Visitors can also catch a bus, taxi or coach to Ham Rong at an affordable price, convenient for moving.

Ham Rong Bridge Thanh Hoa is the only iron bridge across the Ma River, about 5km from the city center . The bridge was built in 1904, with the most modern steel arch bridge in Indochina. This is a historical place witnessing important moments of the nation associated with the Ham Rong victory.
In 1972, the US imperialists used bombs to destroy traffic, completely paralyzing traffic. Under the bombs, the bridge was still firmly leaning against Ham Rong mountain, reflecting on the Ma river. In 1973, the bridge was restored, becoming a historical and cultural symbol. The image of a resilient bridge in the past has become a symbol of the indomitable will of the people of Thanh Hoa.
