Co Luong Cave is a cave system located on Co Luong mountain, in the area of Kham village, Hoi Xuan town, Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province.
Location
From Hoi Xuan town, go back to the northwest along National Highway 15 about 3 km to Kham village, from here it is about 500 m to walk uphill to reach the mouth of the cave. The road to this cave has a steep slope because the cave is located near the top of a high mountain, on both sides of the road are Luong hills and corn fields of Thai ethnic people. The closer to the cave, the harder it is to go, the forest is dense, the guide must use a knife to spread the trees to create a path for visitors and mark the path. [2]
The mouth of the cave is located near the top of a mountain and faces the Ma River. The entrance of the cave is very narrow, just enough for one person to pass through, through the cave entrance is a steep slope about 10 meters deep, visitors can only bow their heads and crawl back to descend into the cave. The cave is thousands of square meters wide and is composed of three distinct floors. The first floor has many colorful stalactites, there are unique rock formations created by nature, there are stalactites shaped like turtles, swimming pools of fairies. The second floor of Co Luong cave has a depth of about 25m, the third floor has a depth of about 35m compared to the cave mouth, forming a closed cave system, with a total length of more than 600m. It takes about 10 hours to visit the entire cave system
Tourism potential
Currently there is no electricity in the cave, visitors must bring a flashlight when entering the cave. Because of the complex cave system, the guide must carry a bunch of forest trees to mark the path when walking in the cave.
Currently, Pu Hu Nature Reserve and Quan Hoa District People’s Committee are making detailed plans to promote the construction of Pu Hu eco-tourism area, including the Co Luong cave system. In the coming time, Quan Hoa district will widen the road to this cave, build a number of rest stations and put a colorful electric light system into the cave to serve tourists. One day not far away, visitors to Pu Hu eco-tourism area will enjoy and explore a cave system that is considered the most beautiful in Thanh Hoa today.
