Thai Nguyen (literal name: Phu Lien Tu, Phu Chan Thien Tu) is a temple located at Group 23, Hoang Van Thu ward, Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province. The pagoda is named after Phu Lien village – a village built in the Ly dynasty, still known as Phu Lien incense. In front of the temple yard, there is also a magical statue of Buddha Quan. Notably, the pagoda still retains a great self-adhesive gold inscription, engraved with “Linh Son blessed land”, which means sacred mountain, good land.

During the resistance war against the invading French colonialists, Phu Lien pagoda was heavily destroyed for the purpose of destroying the land. At that time, the pagoda only remained the Dharma Patriarch’s throne and a small part of the Holy Mother Church.

Every year, on the 12th day of the first lunar month, Phu Lien Pagoda welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the world to come here to offer incense to the Buddha and attend a great ceremony at the temple.
Most Buddhists come here to pray for a peaceful and happy new year, ask for strength and fortune. In addition to the ceremony, the temple also launched many traditional cultural activities, enchanting arts such as cockfighting, poetry commenting, reading literature, chess, folk games, etc.
Activities imbued with traditional culture of Thai Nguyen people, become an indispensable spiritual dish every spring and Tet holiday.
METHODS OF TRANSFER TO THE PH LIEN THAI NGUYEN CREAM
- Motorbike : Starting from Hanoi, visitors go in the direction of Vo Chi Cong, cross Nhat Tan bridge, go to Vo Nguyen Giap, then turn right to Highway 18, onto the highway Hanoi – Thai Nguyen. From here, you go straight to National Highway 3, then turn right through Quang Trung – Hoang Van Thu street to Phu Lien pagoda.
This distance is 86km long, it will take visitors 1 hour and half an hour to get to the temple. In addition to this road, you can also go in the direction of Highway 07, to Thai Nguyen city, turn to Quang Trung and Hoang Van Thu streets and then go to lane 95 Phu Lien to reach Phu Lien pagoda.
