Visit Water Cracked Cave

Phong Nha Town, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province, VietNam

In Nuoc Nut cave, Va cave is sandy beach, stalactite blocks of various shapes, giant stalagmite wall and jade green underground river.

In early March 2021, photographer Pham Huy Trung (HCMC) had a 2-day adventure tour to discover Va – Nuoc Nut cave located in the cave complex of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

After taking a car from Son Trach commune center to Km28 West Ho Chi Minh road, the group continued to walk through the forest, through many beautiful scenes of Phong Nha – Ke Bang forest. At the first discovery point in the journey, Nuoc Nut cave, Trung was extremely impressed with the stalagmites “precipitating” from the ceiling and stalactites “growing” from the floor in the cave.

Inside Nuoc Nut cave, there are sandy beaches and stalactites of different shapes. The cave was first discovered in 2003, and the mouth of the cave was discovered in 2012.

After exploring Nuoc Nut cave, Trung’s group camped for one night above the cave entrance and continued trekking in Va cave the next day. In the photo are stalactites of various shapes in Va cave. The two caves have special tectonics thanks to the water circuit connecting with Son Doong cave.

In 2012, Mr. Ho Khanh brought a team of British cave experts to the entrance of the cave. The total length of cave Va surveyed and recognized is 1.6 km.

The underground river has fanciful blue water color in Va cave. In the system of more than 300 caves discovered in Phong Nha – Ke Bang, Va cave is one of the most precious.

During the exploration of Va cave, the group used a keychain and specialized pulley belt to move through the stalactite walls over ten meters high. The journey requires visitors to be in good health and some basic climbing skills.

The author of the photo series said that all feelings of fatigue disappeared when the Thap Non stalactite lake appeared in Va cave. Hundreds of these stalactites grow up like shoots of bamboo shoots, quite uniform in size, about 2 m high.

Experts say that the stalactites here are rare and unique, almost nowhere else in the world, so Thap Non stalactite lake is also named “Tha Thuy cave”.

Scientists have not really discovered the formation of conical stalactites. They are “living” in the water, growing from under the lake, not forming thanks to the small water flow from above like in other caves.

At the end of the journey, Trung compared the scene in Va cave and Nuoc Nut cave to paradise. The itinerary is suitable for those who love sports, nature and photography enthusiasts.
