INTRODUCTION TO THE MOUNTAIN REGION – BAC GIANG

Dinh mountain is located not far from the romantic Thuong river, is the second largest mountain range of Tan Yen district after Dot mountain (Phuc Son commune). It has a beautiful natural landscape with pine forests about 50 years old. Many people who come to Gianh mountain share the same comment as being in the pine forest of Da Lat city (Lam Dong).

With the mountain terrain winding, winding, steep, gentle, coming to the mountain, passengers will experience an eco-spiritual journey. Surrounding the mountain is a vast pine forest, green eucalyptus, many trees have been planted for many years. The airy, cool atmosphere creates a feeling of relaxation. The road to Giac mountain is built with brick paved steps with 345 steps up. Right at the foot of the mountain is a small well, named Mui Voi well. The well is about 2m deep, surrounded by bricks and cement. People say that the well never runs out of water.

Located on the mountain is the Temple of Dich, a cultural and religious work of the local people. The temple complex consists of 3 temples: Trinh Temple (at the foot of the mountain), Thuong Temple (on the top of the mountain) and Ha Temple (the area halfway up the mountain). The Temple of Dedication is dedicated to the gods Cao Son and Quy Minh, who, while living as talented generals, became holy gods, reanimated and resounded, helping people to eliminate disasters, and were worshiped by people for many generations.

No one knows exactly when the temple was built, but based on documents and relics such as stone columns, ancient incense bowls, sacrifices, and thrones still preserved in the temple… then this work was built. built during the Le Dynasty in the 18th century.

Experiencing many ups and downs of history, notably during the resistance war against the French, the temple was destroyed much, not intact as before. However, the people here have restored and renovated many times, the temple has been more spacious and beautiful, but still retains many ancient and distinctive features.

During the resistance war against the French colonialists invading Vietnam, the Temple and the mountain were the outposts for our troops to ambush to protect the free zone. Also here, on April 13, 1950, two guerrilla soldiers, Nguyen Ba Giai and Nguyen Dinh Khai, bravely sacrificed themselves while on duty to guard the front line.

PRODUCTS OF THE MOUNTAIN – BAC GIANG

Coming to the relic area of ​​​​Danh mountain, passengers can not only admire the majestic scenery but also hear the story handed down in folklore about the product of the people here. The story goes that, on a certain mountain top, there was a mother and daughter who depended on each other to live. One day, the mother suddenly fell seriously ill but the family did not have money for treatment. The teenager had to go to the mountains to find medicine for his mother’s illness. Even though it was still late at night, the young man sat down to rest and fell asleep under a big tree halfway up the mountain.

In his dream, he saw that he found a ginseng root to help his mother. Waking up, his hand was still clutching a very small rope. When he smelled it, he just found out that he had found the fairy ginseng, so he quickly dug up the roots and brought back the decoction for his mother to drink. After drinking precious ginseng, the mother recovered from her illness a few days later.

The feature of this precious ginseng species becomes even more thrilling, interesting and is likened to a “fairy medicine” when helping King Tu Duc’s mother, Queen Mother Tu Du (Tu Du) regain her eyesight. It is said that during the reign of King Tu Duc, his mother was blind. Loving his mother, the king searched for all rare herbs as well as talented physicians at that time to help cure his illness, but it was getting worse.

Magical healers, good remedies have all been used but to no avail. At a time when the King was hopeless, a mandarin offered a precious species of ginseng in the Gianh mountain region. Unexpectedly, ginseng was as precious as an elixir, helping to brighten the eyes of the king’s mother. That’s why there is a saying:  Nam Nam ginseng is famous for the mountain of Departure / Curing blindness so that the eyes are healed as before”.

Since then, mountain ginseng is likened to a herbal medicine, a “fairy medicine”, becoming an annual product for the King. Local mandarins tried to find Nam ginseng as gifts to their superiors and the court. Local people, for a living, also flocked to the forest to look for ginseng, which led to the situation of being sold out.

MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL – BAC GIANG

The area of ​​​​the old Giac mountain had the famous Bao Loc Son festival throughout the region. In the early 19th century, Bao Loc Son was a canton of Yen The district, Lang Giang province, including 4 communes: Bao Loc Son, Chung Son, Tuong Son and Kim Trang. The annual Bao Loc Son festival is held on January 16 and 17, centered at the complex of Um Ngo communal houses, Viet Lap commune.

This festival is the festival of the four families, also known as the four armors, typical of the families: Than, Giap Nguyen and Dong…in 4 villages: Kim Trang, Khoat, Nguyen and Um Ngo. These 4 villages have 4 communal houses, worshiping 4 Thanh Hoang. After the villages of Nguyen, Kim Trang and Khoat opened the festival, the procession took the palanquin to Um Ngo communal house to open the festival on January 16 and 17, and from there, the procession went to Ca Ca on the top of the mountain. . 4 village festivals gather into Bao Loc Son festival.

The festival includes games such as swinging trees, cockfighting, wrestling, kite flying… Wishing for a peaceful wind and rain, prosperous people. Bao Loc Son Festival was restored for the first time in the spring of 1996. In 2019, Viet Lap Commune People’s Committee continued to organize the restoration of Bao Loc Son festival.

In parallel with the traditional culture, the traditional culinary culture here is also famous near and far with Lien Chung grilled spring rolls. Nem is a familiar dish of Vietnamese people, made with raw pork, then fermented. Nem Lien Chung stands out in that before eating the water on the charcoal (today it can be done by electricity, gas, and microwave). At that time, pork mixed with hearing to make spring rolls is cooked from heat to create an unmistakable aroma.
