The People’s Committee of Yen Bai province held a ceremony to announce the decision and receive the certificate of ranking of special national relic of Mu Cang Chai terraced fields and certify the New Rice Celebration of the Mong people as an intangible cultural heritage. The decision was previously issued by the State, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, but until now, the province has only held an official reception ceremony, due to the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic.
The area of the special scenic area is more than 800 hectares, concentrated in the communes of La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha, De Xu Phinh, Kim Noi, Mo De and Lao Chai. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized that Yen Bai province must take measures to protect the status quo of this special national relic. People repair and expand terraced fields in places where conditions are available.
