Vinh Long is a province in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. Vinh Long is written in Chinese as 永隆 (Eternal in eternity, eternal, meaning forever; Long in solemn, meaning prosperity, wealth). Vinh Long's name expresses the wish that this place will always be prosperous. However, due to not understanding the meaning, Vinh Long was called Vinh Dragon by a part of young people (don't know the meaning of the word Vinh and confused it with the word Long 龍 which means dragon). Vinh Long province has a fairly flat topography with a slope of less than 2°, has a relatively low elevation above sea level. between the center of the province and gradually rises towards the banks of Tien river, Hau river, Mang Thit river and along major rivers and canals. Vinh Long province is located in the tropical monsoon climate, divided into two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry season.

The North and North Central regions have a humid subtropical climate with 4 seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
