The temple worships Cuc Hoa, the wife of the Poinsettias of the Two Kingdoms, Tong Tran. Cuc Hoa is a woman with beauty, compassion and respect for justice. She sacrificed her youth and affluent life to bravely follow the call of love with Tong Tran. She not only takes care of the housework, but also takes care of her husband’s education. Although she was separated from her husband for 10 years, she was always a filial daughter-in-law and kept her loyalty to her husband. With the virtues of Cuc Hoa, later people built this temple right on the place where she lived to worship her.
Phoenix Temple was built on a high ground, spacious and airy, the land has the shape of a phoenix which means bringing all things peace and good. The temple was built quite early, so it has been damaged over time, so it has been repaired many times.
The temple was built according to Dinh architecture, including 5 sacrifices and 2 harem. In front of the altar is covered with four-quarter paintings, the two ends are two pillars shaped like a lotus bud. In addition, the temple also has a model house with three compartments and two wings, with a simple design in the style of a gable wall. The details, as well as the design of the items in the temple, bear the imprint of the Nguyen Dynasty. Covering Phuong Hoang Temple is not too massive, but from the temple architecture, the ancient statues and the layout have created a sacred and respectful beauty for the temple.
Every year from the 1st to the 3rd day of the first lunar month, the people here hold a festival to commemorate the merits and virtues of Cuc Hoa. Visitors can come at this time to both visit and participate in the festival at the temple.
