1. Introduction to Chu Dong Tu Temple 

Chu Dong Tu Temple  was formed scatteredly in a number of localities in the Northern Delta and midland mountainous region, mainly concentrated on the banks of the Red River. Currently, this temple is considered one of the “Four Immortals” of national beliefs. 

 

 

According to history, Chu Dong Tu temple is associated with a romantic love story between the daughter of King Hung 18 and a poor boy surnamed Chu. To this day, this is still a legend of the most emotional and intense love history of the treasure of folklore.

2. How to move to Chu Dong Tu temple in Hung Yen? 

To be able to move  to Chu Dong Tu Temple in Hung Yen , you can go down the Red River about 20km to arrive at Binh Minh Wharf, where you can easily and quickly enter the two temples. In addition, if you take a car, you can go over Chuong Duong bridge, turn right and go about 25km along the dyke road to reach Da Hoa temple. 

 

 

3. What does Chu Dong Tu Temple in Hung Yen have?

Chu Dong Tu temple includes 2 temples, namely Da Hoa temple located in Da Hoa village, Binh Minh commune and Da Trach temple in Da Trach commune, Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen. If you have the opportunity, you should take some time to visit these two famous temples.

 

3.1. Da Hoa Temple 

Da Hoa Temple  was formed in 1894 by Dr. Chu Manh Trinh built on the foundation of an old temple. The terrain here is high, wide and flat, rectangular in shape with an area of ​​​​up to 19,720m2. The main west direction of the temple will look straight to the natural beach. In 1962, Da Hoa temple was ranked as a historical and cultural relic by the State. 

 

Da Hoa temple architecture  includes 18 different large and small works. Most of them are tiled with roof banks, at the top of the knife is the engineer beveled in the shape of a boat, symbolizing the 18 Hung Kings. 

 

 

The outside area is 7,200 square meters, without walls. In particular, there is a 28-storey beer house with 4 doors and is located neatly under the shadow of an old man. Visitors can follow the brick path to reach Ngo Mon. Along the two sides of the road there are guest houses and bell houses. 

The Ngo Mon area consists of 3 doors: the main door is a tall building with 3 compartments, at the top of the roof is covered with two dragons worshiping the moon, this door is only open when there are great ceremonies taking place. Two doors on both sides are open to serve visitors. 

 

 

Moving through the courtyard will bring you to the Great Hall, the Harem, the Third Palace, the Second Palace and the Burning Incense. Among them, the Thieu Huong court was built in a dignified and airy architecture. On the roof banks, the knife heads were meticulously crafted, carved, decorated with lions and dragons. The hammock door at the Second Palace is carved with fruits, chrysanthemums and phoenixes. 

Inside  Da Hoa Temple  , many precious relics are preserved, the most special of which is a pair of Bach Tho jars. This is a priceless antique of the nation that has been preserved for many generations. There is also a beautiful bronze statue of Saint Chu Dong Tu and his second wife, located in the harem area.

3.2. Da Trach Temple 

Da Trach Temple  is located in a fairly open area next to Da Trach lagoon, so the air is quite cool and clear. In 1989, the temple was officially classified as a relic by the State. 

 

 

Da Trach Temple has a structure from the outside, including a bell tower, a semicircular lake, crossing the courtyard area to the shrine with 3 buildings. The interior and exterior of the temple are both ancient and sacred. 

 

 

4. Chu Dong Tu Festival 

 Then you should visit Chu Dong Tu temple at the time of festivals. Every year, on the 10th – 12th of the second lunar month, a love festival takes place at two temples of Da Trach and Da Hoa. This is the typical culture of  Hung Yen people  that has been preserved and developed throughout the nation’s development. 

 

 

The ceremony part takes place traditional ceremonies with solemn form. It is a holy procession followed by a procession of dragons and jubilant gongs and drums. Followed by a long line of people with unique costumes. The purpose of this ritual is to wish for a year of favorable rain and good weather. 

 

 

After the ceremony will come the festival, this is the time that many people look forward to the most. Many folk games take place such as: cock fighting, blindfolded pot beating, swinging trees, going to the bridge, blindfolded catching goats, etc. Interspersed with the games are many cultural performances and sports activities. Attractive sports that many people respond to include: badminton, swimming, singing chau van, singing quan ho, singing ca tru, dancing dragon. 

 

 

Especially once every 3 years,  the Chu Dong Tu festival  is held on a large scale, attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world to attend. On holidays, a stream of people eagerly go to the festival to create a bustling and bustling atmosphere.
