That night, lying in the Xa – Ngot communal house, half-awake and half-dream, Ly Thuong Kiet saw two gods with dazzling caps appearing. Ly Thuong Kiet quickly stood up and bowed. Two unusually tall and fierce gods. One with a black face, blue eyes, and a white robe. A white face, long beard, wearing a red robe, said: “We just visited each other in the morning but quickly forgot! Those Song invaders, just make them astral, they will disappear. Our brothers and sisters would like to bring divine troops to help him wipe out the invaders… After that, he recited the poem:
. Of course, fate is in heaven.
Nhu ha treacherous hole hybrid invades
Nhu Dang khanh thu van thu.
Ly Thuong Kiet immediately ordered the army to light a lamp, take a pen to study, and he sat down and transcribed the poem God in his memory. Copy and copy many times to remember the correct words of the poem. Ly Thuong Kiet proudly spoke softly. A few Bhikshus who were serving and listening to them, got excited, and mumbled to follow along. Ly Thuong Kiet ordered his troops to copy the poem Than make many copies and send it to generals throughout the front lines.
The poem God – the first declaration of independence of our country, was born in such a special historical context. The poem has a devastating effect on the spirit and will of the Song army to invade; encouraging the spirit of decisive battle and decisive victory of our army, contributing to the heroic victory of the army and people of the Ly dynasty, defeating 100,000 Song troops on the banks of Nhu Nguyet river.
Located on the alluvial ground of Nga Ba Xa – Xa Temple is the place to witness the strategic decisive battle of the Ly army and people in the resistance war against the invading Song invaders. The poem “Nam Quoc Son Ha” sung here shows the determination to fight, to win and the love of peace of Dai Viet army and people. Dare to fight and defeat all invading enemies, demonstrating the nation’s self-reliance and self-respect for every inch of the country’s land. The poem makes the enemy swoon; encouraging the spirit of our army, contributing to the heroic victory of the Ly army and people in 1077, defeating the invaders.
The temple was built in the Ly dynasty, is a heritage containing traditional cultural and historical values with ancient architecture. Currently, the temple still preserves many valuable relics such as foundations, pillars and some precious antiques such as: two stone statues of gods and two sets of green stone dragon horses, stone stele, altar, tablet, diaphragm, couplets… 15 sets of ordinations granted by 15 kings.
In spiritual life, this relic is a place associated with religious activities of people in the region. From ancient times, Xa Temple worships Saint Tam Giang (Truong Hong, Truong Hat). Both of his brothers were brave and yet full-fledged generals, supporting Trieu Viet Vuong, leading the army to defeat the Luong army in the year of Canh Ngo (550), liberating the country of Van Xuan from the oppression of the Northern Luong dynasty for many dynasties. Dai awarded the title: “Great King of the High God”. More than 300 villages along the banks of Cau River, Ca Lo River and Thuong River have communal houses and temples to worship Saint Tam Giang. Particularly, the villages along the banks of Cau River, from upstream to downstream, almost all worship Saint Tam Giang as the village’s tutelary god. Every year, Doai village in Tam Giang commune regularly organizes two big festivals at the temple: January 5 and April 8 (August).
On the stone stele “Linh Tu Bi Ky” dated Minh Menh 16 (1835) shows quite clearly the restoration of Xa temple in Le Trung Hung’s reign, 18th century. During the resistance war against the French, the Xa temple was destroyed due to the resistance’s request to destroy the land. Since then, it has undergone a few minor repairs, until 1993 – 2000, the temple was funded by the state, contributed by the people, contributed to the restoration and embellishment as it is today, but still not quite similar to the present day. worthy of the cultural and historical value of the temple, which marks the glorious feats of the Ly army and people on the Nhu Nguyet line, demonstrating the outstanding military talent of Thai monk Ly Thuong Kiet.
Because Xa temple is located outside the dike, surrounded by fields and rivers, the harsh weather has greatly affected the architectural works. The road from the dike leading to the temple has not been repaired, hindering tourists who want to visit and learn about the historical and cultural values of the temple.
