In the 2021-2022 carrot crop, for the first time, all carrot-growing regions in Hai Duong province are produced according to VietGAP standards. It is expected that in this crop, about 80% of the province’s carrot output will be preliminarily processed, refrigerated, and exported to Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Europe, and Middle East countries.
On the afternoon of February 15, 2022, in the field of Duc Chinh commune, Cam Giang district, the People’s Committee of Hai Duong province held the carrot harvest festival in 2022.
Speaking at the festival, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan highly appreciated Hai Duong province for focusing on creating a brand name for each high-quality agricultural product. On this occasion, the Minister also cut the ribbon to export the first carrot container in the new year of Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company.
GOOD EXPORTING CARTOROTS
Hung Viet Company and Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company are the two largest enterprises that are purchasing carrots for farmers in Hai Duong for export. However, this year the company’s main export market for carrots is Korea. If every year, the Korean side will buy carrots from China first and then buy Vietnamese carrots after Tet, this year, Vietnamese carrots are bought by Korea at the beginning of the season at a high price.
Up to this point, the Company has signed with Korean partners to export about 5,000 tons of carrots in 2022, an increase of 3,000 tons compared to 2021. From the beginning of the crop until now, Ameii is purchasing for farmers. with prices ranging from 12,000 – 15,000 VND/kg.
In the 2021-2022 winter crop, the province has about 1,500 hectares of carrots, the output is estimated at 65,000 tons, an increase of over 7% compared to 2020. The carrot harvest season in Hai Duong lasts until April 2022. The current selling price of carrots is 4,000-5,000 VND/kg higher than the same period last year. Thanks to the high selling price at the beginning of the season, minus expenses, it is estimated that a profit of over 200 million VND/ha.
According to Hai Duong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in recent years, carrots have been one of the eight key agricultural products of Hai Duong province. Carrots are produced by people in the province according to a large-scale centralized commodity model, applying high technology, mainly in a few communes of Cam Giang and Nam Sach districts and Chi Linh city.
Up to now, carrots in Hai Duong have formed large fields on alluvial land along the Thai Binh and Kinh Thay rivers. It is from being accreted and nurtured from the alluvial seeds of large rivers, combined with the mild climate that creates a unique quality for Hai Duong carrots with distinct crispiness and juicy taste. with carrots anywhere.
Currently, the whole province of Hai Duong has an annual planting area of about 1,600 hectares, with an output of over 80,000 tons/year. Carrots are produced according to VietGap and GolobalGap safety standards to serve domestic consumers and export. . Annually, carrots are planted from early September to early October, the harvest season is from January to March every year.
