Kiep Bac Temple is located  in two villages of Duoc Son and Van Kiep, Hung Dao commune, Chi Linh town, is the place to worship Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan. Kiep Bac is a compound name of two regions: Van Yen (Kiep village) and Duoc Son (Silver village).

 

History

In the 13th century, this was the place where Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan established a base, stored food, and trained soldiers in the resistance wars against the Mongols. In the 14th century, his temple was built here and was the place to organize annual festivals to offer incense to commemorate the hero of the Vietnamese nation, who made great contributions to the country and was revered by the people. Location

Kiep Bac temple area is located near Luc Dau Giang, which is the convergence of six rivers: Cau River, Thuong River, Luc Nam River, Duong River, Kinh Thay River and the main tributary of Thai Binh River. Some feng shui followers believe that this is the place to gather air to build a fortune. By road, Kiep Bac Temple is about 80 km (50 miles) from Hanoi, following National Highway 1 to Bac Ninh, turning to National Highway 18 and about 5 km (3 miles) from Con Son Pagoda.

 Architecture

 The area of ​​Kiep Bac temple is a rich valley on three sides surrounded by Dragon Mountains, and on one side is Luc Dau Giang. The mountains form the posture of the dragon adoring, the tiger bowing, the river forming the spacious hall. In front of the temple, there is a large gate with three magnificent doors. On the outside gate there are four words “Hung Thien infinity”, below there are 5 words “Tran Hung Dao Vuong from”.

Through the large gate, to the left is a well called the Dragon’s Eye Jade Well. Following the stone path to the palanquin area during the festival season, there is an altar in front.

The outermost hall worships Pham Ngu Lao, the second hall worships Hung Dao Vuong, the innermost hall worships Hung Dao Vuong’s wife, Princess Thien Thanh and her two daughters called Nhi Nhi Vuong Co. In the temple, there are still 7 bronze statues: statue of Tran Hung Dao, his wife, 2 daughters, son-in-law Pham Ngu Lao, Nam Tao, Bac Dau and 4 tablets to worship his sons and 2 family generals, Yet. Near the temple is Vien Lang, a small mountain with overgrown trees, some people believe that this is the burial place of Tran Hung Dao.

Festival

The main festival is held from the 15th to the 20th day of the 8th lunar month, in addition, there are festival activities here in the early spring. Due to the geographical nature (near Con Son pagoda) and history, Con Son festival (associated with Nguyen Trai) and Kiep Bac temple festival (attached to Tran Hung Dao) are often held at the same time to make people think remember two national heroes.

In addition, at Kiep Bac temple in 2006, the government officially recognized the form of religious activities in the field. Those who follow the beliefs that go to the altar to worship Saint Tran are called Thanh Dong. Currently, going to the Tran dynasty takes place regularly at Kiep Bac temple.
