Chu Van An’s temple is located on Phuong Hoang mountain, in the territory of Van An ward, Chi Linh town, Hai Duong province. This place with beautiful scenery is also the place where many people come to ask for letters every time the New Year comes in the spring, wishing for a new year of good luck, studying and passing exams.
Master Chu Van An’s name is Tieu An – self-titled Linh Triet, Thuy Van Trinh. Born on August 25, Year of the Dragon, the 2nd year of Trung Hung year (1292) in Van village, Quang Liet commune, Thanh Tri district (now part of Hanoi). Father is Chu Van Thien, mother is Le Thi Chuan.Chu Van An temple is located in Chi Linh mountain, Hai Duong province, ranked as a national historical relic in 2008. The temple consists of 3 main relics: Temple, Tomb of Master Chu Van An and Luu Quang Palace – where Chu Van An used to teach.Here a few hundred years ago, Chu Van An abandoned his position of officialdom and returned to open a school to teach, write books, study medicine, live a comfortable life, happy with plants and trees.Entering the temple gate, visitors have felt the dignified and quiet atmosphere here.Going through more than 100 stone steps is the Temple to worship teacher Chu Van An, which was built on a high, wide and sacred ground of Phuong Hoang mountain. The temple has an architecture in the style of the word “Nhi”, based on the architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty, with two floors and eight roofs.The step up has 4 characters engraved on the stone, which are swastika, The, Su, and Bieu.His life of purity and frugality is a shining example of Vietnamese feudalism. He is one of the very few sages worshiped at the Temple of Literature.
